Bears, brownies, and bombs! Oh my!
Oh my, indeed. This slutty combination of things gave chills down my spine. But, not to fear! Transform this into a treat and you got yourself one cute "explosion"!
I always like to transform recipes I love into novelty-like cute eats. No matter what it is, I have to add a dash of more color, two eyes and a smile, or even some sprinkles to please the eyes. Like I mentioned in my menu page, it is crucial that the food we eat tastes great. But as they all say, “We eat with our eyes first.” I believe that food presentation plays a huge role in how we experience food, especially desserts. My goal is always to turn my desserts into something more entertaining and amusing to our eyes, and hopefully my well designed dessert leads to a delicious bite!
That's when I thought I'd take one of my favorite brownie bomb recipes and turn it into something... chocolately... brown... round... BEAR! Then the "Beary" Brownie Bombs have been born. I was inspired by Diamonds for Desserts, who also made a bear very similar to mine, but in the form of truffles. Since this was a very chocolate heavy recipe, I decided to encase the brownie ball in dark chocolate to counterbalance the sweetness of the brownie. Even my dark-chocolate-despising friend didn't realize it was dark chocolate until I told her! She was amazed at how balancing the various tastes in a treat could trick her taste buds into accepting dark chocolate. Well, that's just the magic of my "Beary" Brownie Bombs, my dear hehe.

Ingredients
- 1 pkg fudge brownie mix (baked and cooled)
- 8 oz semisweet chocolate chips/candy melts
- semisweet chocolate chips**
- dark chocolate chips**
- Black gel writer
- Red get writer
Instructions
- Bake brownie mix as directed. Let it cool completely.
- Roll out the brownies to form 20+ balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper and chill them in the refrigerator until firm.
- Take a dark chocolate chip and press it into each ball to leave a dent for the snout. Keep the bombs chilling in the refrigerator while you melt the 8 oz semisweet chocolate. Dip a bombs in the melted chocolate, shake off excess chocolate, and place it on a baking sheet lined with a new piece of parchment paper.
- Place a dark chocolate chip into the dent made earlier for a snout. Take 2 semisweet chocolate chips and press them to the top sides of the bomb to form ears. Repeat with the other bombs. Remelt the semisweet chocolate if it begins to solidify.
- Once finished dipping the truffles, let them rest while the chocolate hardens. While waiting, make the sugar cookie icing (not that much is needed, so divide the recipe by 4). Split the icing in half. Use the black writer to draw eyes, and a nose and a mouth on the large chocolate chip. Use the red writer to draw a bow tie.
Notes
**I also used Nestle semisweet and dark chocolate chips, but any brand is fine. Basically what you need are standard sized chocolate chips for the ears and a larger size chocolate chip for the snout (Nestle Dark Chocolate Morsels or Ghirardelli 60% Cacao Bittersweet Baking Chips.
