"Gotta... Bake 'em all! Pokemon!"
Seriously. This was probably the most exciting fondant creation I have ever done so far. And all for a special friend. The many days and hours I spent planning, creating, baking, and fondant-ing was so worth it. I am beyond excited to present to you...
Vulpix, Squirtle, Charmander, Skitty, Igglypuff, Jigglypuff, Pikachu, Phanpy, Merill, Psyduck, Cyndaquil, Chikarita, Chimchar, Torchic, Piplup, and Mudkip! And two pokeballs just in case you encountered a trainer in battle. Hopefully these pokeballs will do the trick. ;)
Anywho, I am a lover of fondant. Fondant is the reason why I started baking, and it definitely has a special place in my heart. The wonders you can do with fondant are literally endless. From making cakes look professional and flawless to allowing creativity and imagination, fondant is truly an admirable piece of art. From nifty cakes to interesting sculptures, the possibilities go on and on and on. It will be too much to explain how I made each of these pieces, but to make a long story short, food coloring was probably my best friend that night. Working with fondant is like working with (sweet and beautifully colored) play-doh, but I cannot say that this is suitable for a six year old. I cannot deny the fact that this is a skill that requires much patience and experience, and even with the fondant cakes I have made since, I know that I still have a long way to go. Nevertheless, I feel as though I was given another opportunity to develop this skill with the design of the Pokemons. But the best thing from this was definitely my friend's reaction. It was honestly quite cute, hehe I could replay it over and over if I could. Since my friend enjoyed my cupcakes, I believe now is a good time for a pat on the head and a nice nap after a long day's work!
